David Yurman opens men’s-only boutique in Printemps

Ever the pathbreaker, David Yurman has opened his first boutique fully dedicated to men in Paris. Its location: Printemps, the bellwether Paris department store.

The new 15-square-meter space is within Printemps de l’Homme, the department store’s ground-floor men’s section. Built in stainless steel with touches of antique copper, and two types of wood to give the air of an art gallery. The opening comes shortly after David Yurman named Carol Pennelli to be its new company president.

Evan Yurman, who joined the family business in 2004 and since 2013 is the company’s creative director of men’s jewelry, designed the collection. Inspired by elements of everyday life – from cars to natural textures to classical paintings – many pieces are composed of surprising materials like meteorites, titanium and aluminum.

“Jewelry is an art that has the power to create moods, excite emotions and provoke reactions and opinions,” argues Evan Yurman, who studied geology and sculpture before entering the family firm.

Founded in New York in 1980 by two sculptors David and Sybil Yurman, the parents of Evan, the brand’s DNA of relaxed American now retails in 46 flagship stores and some 400 retail sales points. Privately-owned, the company is estimated to generate around $650 million in annual revenues. The brand's signature element is the famed cable, woven metal bracelet that echoes ancient Greek and Roman torques.
