Ecco wants to get a firmer grip on the French market. After opening a store in Paris, then Strasbourg in 2014, the Danish shoe brand -- founded in 1963 -- is looking to the future with the opening of its first Nice store, and third location for the brand in France, this spring.

The Nice store covers 50 square metres - Ecco

Ecco has opened a 50-square-metre space in Nice at 4 rue de la Liberté, where it sells men's, women's and children's shoes and accessories. Of particular focus is the brand's golf collection. "The importance of having the golf offering in this store in the south seemed obvious to us, as the sport is quite widespread here," explained Laura Steinmetz, head of retail development for Ecco.

The Scandinavian brand intends to continue its store openings and eyes a total of 17 new namesake stores in France between now and 2020. That is, approximately 15 stores in the next three years. The French capital will welcome its second Ecco location in the coming year, while other cities like Lyon, Toulouse and Bordeaux are also on the cards.

The shoe brand, which promotes comfort across all its footwear models, sets its prices between 99 and 180 euros, and now sells a collection of simple leathergoods.

Ecco's products are also sold via multibrand retail partnerships. The Danish brand boasts 14,000 points of sale across 88 countries, of which 2,000 are standalone stores. Approximately 100 new stores were opened by the brand in 2016.
