Diamonds, precious stones and watches go under the hammer in Milan jewelry sale

On March 15, 2016, the Aste Bolaffi auction house in Milan, Italy is to hold its first jewelry auction, featuring over 400 lots all from private collections.

Aste Bolaffi is holding its first auction entirely dedicated to high-end jewelry and watches in the historical setting of the Grand Hotel et de Milan, in the heart of the Italian city. Jewelry lovers and collectors will be able to bid for over 400 lots selected for sale from private collections.

A 5.30-karat emerald-cut diamond

The auction sees diamonds, rare colored gemstones, vintage pieces, signed creations and historical jewels go under the hammer. The star of the sale is a platinum ring with a 5.3-karat emerald-cut diamond, boasting a starting price of €130,000 (approx $145,000).

Other standout pieces include a 7.25-karat loose round diamond (starting price: €40,000 or approx. $45,000), a 6.50-karat Colombian emerald on a platinum and diamond ring from the 1960s (starting price: €30,000 or approx. $33,000), a Cartier gold and diamond brooch from the 1940s (price: €10,000 or approx. $11,000) and a Patek Philippe pocket watch from the early 20th century with its original box and guarantee (starting price: €2,000 or approx. $2,225).

A collection of jewels formerly owned by the Italian businesswoman, Pina Maule Fin, will also feature at the auction -- including rings, brooches, earrings, bracelets and necklaces -- with the proceeds going to the Turin charity "Area."
