L'Oreal USA announced it has made the list of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power Partnership (GPP) Top 100. The GPP Top 100 list names the country's largest green power users. L'Oreal derives 96 percent of its total power use through green sources.

The EPA program is a voluntary one that is designed to recognize companies making substantial efforts towards greening their business. Since enacting its global sustainability strategy in 2016 named "Sharing Beauty with All", L'Oreal has moved up the EPA's list to one of the top green power users in the US.

L'Oreal began using solar power in 2011 at its New Jersey manufacturing plant. The company now operates 42 miles of solar power panels at 16 different manufacturing sites across the country.

Jay Harf, Vice President of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability for L'Oreal USA said that "by making the choice to use clean, renewable energy, our organization becomes more sustainable while also sending a message that using green power is a sound business decision and an important tool in reducing one's carbon footprint in the fight against climate change."

Other noteworthy sustainability measures that L'Oreal USA has taken include reducing water consumption and waste, as well as reducing global carbon emissions company-wide by 67%. The majority of the reduction of the emissions occurred in the US through greener manufacturing processes at the company's Arkansas and Kentucky plants.

The EPA's GPP includes over 1,400 partner organizations including Fortune 500 companies, universities and local, state and federal government entities.
