STOCKHOLM | Thu Jan 20, 2011 - Fashion giant Hennes & Mauritz said on Thursday its newest designer collaboration is with Swedish retro clog maker Hasbeens, one of a string of top names the company has worked with to draw in clients.

Hasbeens hand makes high-end, eco-friendly clogs based on 70's styles and worn by celebrities such as American actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Its cheaper range designed for the partnership will hit the shelves of 150 H&M stores around the world in April.

H&M has in the past cooperated with household names such as singer Madonna and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Viktor & Rolf and Rei Kawakubo.

The designer collections add little to overall sales, but analysts say they attract lots of attention to H&M, which is the world's third-largest clothes retailer by sales, and strengthen its brand.

Hasbeens clogs are sold in more than 20 countries for up to around $500, with Sweden and the United States being the biggest markets. The firm forecasts a fiscal 2010/11 year turnover of around 50 million crowns ($7.6 million), a Hasbeens spokeswoman said.
