Since the Global Framework Agreement signed last year by H&M with Industriall and IF Metal, a Swedish trade union has proved to be effective; the agreement was renewed and converted into a permanent collaboration. The Global Framework Agreement renewal allows the parties to continue their work towards improved worker and employer dialogue at H&M suppliers.

According to H&M, the partnership has led to several positive results under which, national monitoring committees made up of representatives from Industriall’s affiliated trade unions and H&M have been set up and trained in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Turkey.

“The committees support employers’ and workers’ organisations to negotiate and to solve conflicts peacefully and in good faith at the factory level,” H&M said. “Their work contributes to functioning labour markets in the countries where H&M source its products.”
