The website’s editor-in-chief and executive creative director announced his departure in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Zee joined the site after serving as the creative director at Elle magazine.

Joe Zee joined Yahoo Style in April 2014 and launched the fashion site’s inaugural issue in September of that year. In an Instagram post, Zee announced he would be leaving the website and thanked many of the site’s contributors, including its original cover star Jessica Biel, photographer Bruce Weber and designer Tory Burch.

“What an incredible 3 years it has been for me. THANK YOU guys for all your support on this amazing ride. I am so proud of the site we built from the ground up but of course, no one does anything alone. Thank you to my smart, dedicated, driven OG Crew, who always poured so much of themselves into making everything fresh and exciting and the #1 site from the day it launched,” Zee wrote.

Zee’s departure marks a major change for the website’s fashion and beauty verticals. Yahoo Beauty also lost its editor-in-chief Bobbi Brown in February of last year, along with other senior staffers.

The website has faced serious overhauls since its purchase by Verizon in June of 2016. Following the finalization of the acquisition earlier this month, Verizon announced it would reduce the staffs of both AOL and Yahoo with layoffs of as many as 2,100 employees. Zee did not state if his departure was related to the acquisition by Verizon.
