The Los Angeles concept store will close the doors of its Melrose shop in July and open in a new space in Miami’s Little River neighborhood later this year.

TenOverSix was one of the first concept stores to arrive in Los Angeles. Founded in 2008, the store carries a mix of home décor, beauty supplies, artwork, books and apparel from brands such as Acne, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rachel Comey and its own in-house label. Nearly ten years after its opening however, the store’s owners feels its time to carve out a new market in Miami.

TenOverSix will open its new store in Miami in December, just in time for the city’s famed Art Basel. The new store will open in the lesser-known Little River neighborhood and offer an alternative to the city’s luxury-dominated shopping scene. The city’s biggest shopping draw is perhaps the Miami Design District, which is home to high-end brands like Christian Louboutin, Cartier and Giorgio Armani.

In the nearly ten years since TenOverSix opened, LA’s fashion scene has developed considerably, with similar concept stores like Magasin and a new concept store from 3.1 Phillip Lim setting up shop in recent months. The city has also hosted the latest resort shows for European brands Dior and Moschino.

As part of its move, TenOverSix will also revamp its online store in an attempt to retain some if its West Coast customer base. The store will also stage a blowout sale prior to shutting the doors on its Melrose store in July.
