British fresh handmade cosmetics label Lush will open a new 120 m2 store in Rome on 29th April, located in the highly popular Porta di Roma shopping centre.

This will be Lush's largest Italian shopping mall store, second in size only to the shop opened in October 2016 in Milan's central Piazza Duomo. The interior design is inspired by the brand's Oxford Street flagship in London, opened in April 2015 and the world's largest for Lush.

Lush is very sensitive to sustainability issues: the store's furniture is hand-crafted using wood recycled from old barns from the countryside near Milan, the floor is made of certified natural resin, a first for Lush, and the store uses an energy-efficient LED lighting system.

Lush was founded 21 years ago in Poole (UK), and manufactures and sells fresh handmade cosmetics, including bath bombs, toothpaste and solid shampoo bars. In 2010 the company created the Sustainable Lush Fund, supporting the local communities which manufacture the ingredients for its products. In 2012, it launched the Lush Prize, in collaboration with Ethical Consumer. The prize is worth £250,000 and rewards those who contribute to finding alternatives to animal testing for cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.

Lush products are available in 935 stores across 51 countries, and in 2014 the brand was awarded the 'Best in Business' prize at the UK's Observer Ethical Awards. In 2015 Lush topped the customer service ranking in Which? magazine's consumer survey.
