Noon By Noor celebrates home country Bahrain with spring 2018 collection

Noon by Noor on Thursday unveiled its spring 2018 collection at Skylight Clarkson Square to an audience that included actress Kate Mara and her father and New York Giants owner John Mara, as well as Caitroina Balfe, and Leigh Lezark.

Designers Shaikha Noor Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Mohamed Al Khalifa looked to their home country of Bahrain for inspiration for the collection, which is fitting considering US President Donald Trump’s hard stance against immigration.

The cousins and longtime friends both studied fashion design in the US before moving back to Bahrain to launch the womenswear label. The duo held their first fashion show at New York Fashion Week in September 2012, and they have been a regular on the schedule ever since.

The spring 2018 collection was a mix of feminine and masculine shapes with sleeveless, bare shoulder and plunging dresses contrasted by oversized shirts and knits and blazers.

The colors of the Bahrain flag, red and white, were prevalent in the collection, with the red ensembles standing out as the most notable looks, especially the bare shoulder dress with oversized sleeves and the sleeveless jumpsuit with a sleeveless cape.

Cotton embroidered and printed t-shirts debuted this season and featured the words “Love” and “Wisdom” in Arabic script with the English translation on the back.

"This collection was a testament to our brand’s versatility, which merges masculine shapes with timeless femininity,” said Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa.

Noon by Noor also debuted its first handbag collaboration with Los Angeles-based handbag designer Tyler Ellis. "When we sat with Tyler and her team, we all felt that Tyler Ellis and Noon By Noor were a perfect match," said Haya Al Khalifa.

The 10-piece collection consisted of the Kelly Box and Lee Pouchet envelope clutch that feature various textures and fabrics and gold hardware.
