This is a newly created role within the Catalonian group, with the appointment taking effect on 16 April.

Albesa has been chief brand officer of Puig since 2008. In his new job, he will be responsible for ensuring the alignment of Puig brands and markets, as well as driving the group’s ambitious transformation plan.

“The willingness to take risks, while connecting the dots, is a defining quality of Puig. With daring ideas, alternative business models and the most creative teams, we want to disrupt the category with our brands and invent the future of the fragrance industry,” commented Jose Manual Albesa, who has described the promotion as the most exciting challenge in his career.

Albesa joined Puig in 1998. The executive holds degrees in economics and business and received an MBA from the University of Houston. He has held several roles at Puig, with responsibility for all fragrance brands within Puig’s portfolio. In 2016, he also took over responsibility for the group’s fashion brands.

In documents revealed last week, the perfume and fashion group posted net profits of 228 million euros ($282m) in 2017, representing a 47% increase year-on-year. Sales reached 1.93 billion euros ($2.3bn), up 8.1% compared with 2016.
