The company announced the store's official opening on its Instagram account on Saturday, commenting: "The new Depop Space NY officially opens today at 168 Mott Street. Come thru and shop our Best of NY exhibition inspired by some of the city’s finest sellers including vintage curator Tamara Barkley."

The new store features the "Depop Loves New York" collection and will also feature other popular New York-based Depop vendors, including Queens-based designer Slumpy Kev and Manhattan-based designer Sandy Liang. The store will feature a photo studio, allowing customers to take pictures of their purchases.

Founded by Simon Beckerman in 2011, the app allows users to re-sell clothing and accessories on individual e-shop profiles, and many users have started to use the app to sell original and bespoke designs. Since its launch, Depop has made secondhand vendors out of celebrities from Dita Von Teese to Chiara Ferragni, attracting customers eager to buy clothes worn by their favorite stars. The company opened its first physical shop in Los Angeles in March of this year.

The Depop app initially gained popularity for its user-friendly, Instagram-style layout, which allows shoppers to search for items by keyword, peruse vendor profiles, 'like' items for sale and haggle for final sale prices. Depop vendors have the opportunity to create curated collections of vintage, secondhand, and original items with detailed item descriptions.

In 2015, Depop raised $8 million to expand from the U.K. into the U.S. market, in addition to hiring former Reddit general manager Erik Martin.

Depop is set to open its next brick-and-mortar store in London later this year.
