On the terrace of Le Meurice hotel's Belle Etoile suite on Saturday, Japanese designer Rynshu kicked off his early afternoon men's wear show for Paris fashion week.

It was the perfect backdrop, a landscape postcard of Paris, to present the designer's latest collection, as models walked under an idyllic blue-cloud sky.

In front of the one hundred guests, the collection proposed a good aesthetic balance, showcasing black in different shades and camouflage effects, and the appreciation of graphics with a gold-laced suit and polkadots. There were traditional Asian references too -- an ornate embroidered phoenix on pants, as well as jackets and blazers sporting Japanese characters. This mixed with pure romanticism as it took the stage, with draped shirts and models parading hats and scarves with most looks.

After celebrating the 25th anniversary of shows in Paris, Rynshu -- formerly known as Masatomo Yamashi -- concludes a big year of poignent milestones, particularly with a new shop opening at 270, rue Saint-Honoré (the boutique was formerly located at Paris' Place des Vosges).

"The relocation corresponds with a desire to stand out," said the designer. "Beside the fact the Saint-Honoré area is of one of the most reputable in the world, our arrival in the street is a first for Japanese designers."

Sold across some 20 stockists, mostly in Asia and Tokyo, where the brand has two boutiques, Rynshu has tee-ed up distribution links with multi-brand retailers in the US for next season. While the brand isn't stocked in any major department stores, it will open a new store in Las Vegas next year.
