In just two short years, high-performance beauty brand Starskin has expanded to 28 countries and over 2,000 high-end retail and departmental stores in Europe and the Middle East. And now, the high-performance Dutch products are making their U.S. debut at Barneys New York.

Starskin is the brainchild of Nicole Arnoldussen and Paul Hendriks. Arnoldussen started out in the industry as a makeup artist for Chanel, which eventually led to a career in retail management for brands like Douglas and Boots. It was during this period that she started to pick up on beauty trends and gaps in the market. Though Hendriks—her partner in life and business—launched a successful investment firm, he missed the excitement of his previous career in the entertainment industry, so the duo decided to combine their passions and launch the Starskin brand.

The pair turned to prominent skincare and makeup professionals to help develop 19 award-winning formulas (14 and counting), to include their cult bio-cellulose face, eye and lip masks, the Artist FX Auto-Patting Makeup Applicator and the Glowstar Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff that mimics the result of a professional peel. The brand claims that more product launches are in the works in the months ahead.

While Starskin is based in the Netherlands and will be opening a second office in L.A. this spring/summer, its innovative masks are just breaking into the U.S. market, where sheet masks from numerous K-beauty brands have already been soaring with success. Furthermore, also in February coinciding with the U.S. launch of Starskin,  Barneys partnered with K-beauty expert Alicia Yoon of Peach and Lilly to launch a multi-brand mask bar in its Madison Avenue and downtown stores.

While Starskin's results-driven products ($10-$100) are currently only available in Barneys stores in New York and online, CEO Paul Hendriks says the innovative skincare brand is planning to expand its presence in the U.S.
