Surfstitch continues to face trials with the resignation of the group's chief financial officer, Karen Birner. She also held the role of company secretary.

Surfstitch CFO Karen Birner calls it quits

The surfing retailer said yesterday in a statement that Birner will continue in the dual role while the company looks for her replacement. She will leave the company within the next three months, however.

The news follows Surfstich’s widened full-year net loss over 200% to $155.3 million (US$118.49 million), capping off a year of acquisitions and the departure of co-founder and chief executive, Justin Cameron.

Chief operating officer Mark Storey, left in June, while co-founders Lex Pedersen and Justin Stone, who were appointed joint CEOs after Cameron's departure, are now in charge of business development and global support.
