Tempe (Inditex) saw a 6.5% sales increase in 2014

The footwear manufacturer, 50% of which is owned by Inditex, saw 6.5% growth in 2014. Its turnover reached 963 million euros last year, as compared with 904 million euros during its previous fiscal year.

In 2013, Tempe recorded a 3.37% growth, producing 58 million pairs of shoes.

If it maintains this rate of growth, the company could exceed one billion euros in revenue in 2015, according to the newspaper El Mundo. Tempe’s current figures almost doubled compared to those before the crisis began in 2007, the year its turnover was 483 million euros and it produced 32 million pairs of shoes.

Tempe produces shoes for eight brands owned by Inditex, which has over 6,683 stores in 88 countries. The company was created in 1989 and is headquartered in Elche, operating facilities that cover 1.95 million square feet. Tempe’s first collection was produced for Zara in 1990 and now Amanico Ortega’s group owns 50%. The remaining shares belong to the entrepreneur Alicante and the company’s founder, Vicente García Torres.
