Abercrombie & Fitch has signed up for a five-year lease on its first store in Scotland with the brand set to take over the ground floor and basement of 65 George Street in Edinburgh.

Savills

The former Jack Wills store comprises 6,326 sq ft of retail space for which the US company will pay a rent rising to £171,000 per annum.

The deal was facilitated by Savills, on behalf of Patrizia, with Stuart Moncur, head of national retail at Savills, saying: “George Street continues to be one of Edinburgh’s premier retailing destinations providing Abercrombie & Fitch with an excellent location for its first store in Scotland. The attractive building is ideally suited to create a beautiful flagship store.

“George Street is a long-standing go-to address for aspirational retailers and we are very pleased to welcome Abercrombie & Fitch which will fit in seamlessly with other nearby brands including Sweaty Betty, Lululemon and AllSaints.”

It will be interesting to see the store taking shape and whether its design will feature the brand’s new “getaway-themed aesthetic” that it announced earlier this year.

That design is a “refreshing new store experience inspired by the brand’s intention of making every day feel as exceptional as the start of a long weekend”.

The look is meant to be “a stylish nod to a chic hotel lobby, designed to prioritise omnichannel shopping and provide customers with an immersive interpretation of the Abercrombie experience of today”.
