The return of designer Manuel Bolaño after several seasons of absence, and of TCN, as well as the presence of heavy weights like Antonio Miró and Custo Barcelona will energise the 22nd edition of the Spanish catwalk event, to be held at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau in Barcelona on 25-29 June. The Barcelona fashion week is carving out a space for itself in the international fashion calendar, as it takes place between Paris Men’s Fashion Week and Couture Week.

Custo Barcelona - Spring-Summer2018 - Womenswear - Barcelona

Whilst the event will count prestigious and well-known headliners, it will reduce the total number of designer catwalk shows from 32 in the last edition to 27 this season. Among those listed for the upcoming edition, three emerging designers will present at the Barcelona event for the first time, including up-and-coming casualwear brand Killing Weekend; Imagoza Z1 Fashion, part of the artistic project of Imagodeidesigns; and designer Xevi Fernández, who will make his 080 Barcelona Fashion debut after presenting at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Mans Concept Menswear, the winner of last season’s Emerging Design Award 080 by Desigual; and Brain&Beast and Krizia Robustella, the joint winners of last season’s Best Collection 080 Barcelona Fashion will return this June to present their new creations. And representing the knitwear world will be Lebor Gabala and Ester Ferrando Knitwear, which is returning after its debut last winter.

Sweet Matitos - Fall-Winter2018 - Womenswear - Barcelona

Additionally, the event will once again welcome designers Míriam Ponsa, Txell Miras, Oscarleon and Miquel Suay; as well as Catalan brands Naulover, Lola Casademunt and Escorpion Studio Barcelona. Sweet Matitos will present its third collection on the catwalk, where it made its debut a year ago. Since then, the brand has made 1 million euros in revenue.

Sustainable fashion will make an appearance with brands Amt. and Aubergin, while Boboli will be the only brand showing children’s clothing. Red Point, Guillermina Baeza, ES Collection and Como Un Pez En El Agua will stage swimwear shows.

Despite having coincided with the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the 21st edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion registered more than 32,000 visitors in February, up 5.7% compared with the previous edition in the summer of 2017. 080 Barcelona Showroom raised its revenue forecast to 2 million euros, after having facilitated 150 commercial agreements. Only time will tell if the date change has an impact on the numbers.
