Aaliyah is the latest musical icon to inspire a beauty collection

Beauty fans will soon be able to channel musical legend Aaliyah, thanks to an upcoming makeup series from Melt Cosmetics.

The indie beauty brand is launching an eye makeup series containing what appears to be five red and orange-based shades inspired by the colors of the late R&B singer's "Aaliyah" album cover, as Allure reports. Although the collection, dubbed "Baby Girl," does not directly allude to the star, the collection of stackable shadows come with individual names that echo some of her song titles further hint at the reference, such as "Dust Yourself Off," "More Than a Lover," "Come Over" and "So Dope."

Swatches shared on the Melt Cosmetics Instagram account reveal a color palette ranging from metallic bronze to a deep reddish brown, with peach and coral hues in between.

The collection, which will launch on March 23, is not the only seemingly Aaliyah-inspired beauty series slated for this year. Back in August of last year, PopSugar reported that cosmetics giant MAC was also working on a collection honoring the star, which is rumored to be making its debut this summer. The move isn't the first time MAC has turned to iconic recording artists for creative inspiration -- its list of previous collaborative partners includes Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Sia.
