Abercrombie & Fitch announced via a release this week the launch of an athleisure women’s collection. The collection hit Abercrombie & Fitch retailers and the company website on July 29.
"The collection is a nod to the brand's athletic heritage, featuring sporty items that can be dressed up or down including cropped fleece tops, structured leggings, tanks with mesh inserts and ribbed jersey dresses," read the brand's release as reported by American media outlet Racked.
The collection is apparently not the first time the brand has ventured into athleisure, but the recent release seems to be on trend with product offerings from athletic brands Lululemon, Nike and Under Armour and lifestyle brands, Victoria’s Secret and Kit and Ace.
The athleisure collection is an extension of the brand’s women’s apparel collection. A section of the website is devoted to a ‘Sport to Street’ category that features products like vegan leather joggers, a neoprene skater skirt, hi-lo hem tank tops, crop tops, and a bomber jacket to name a few. No word on if this selection is from the new line, but it falls in line with the description of products available in the athleisure collection.
