The online business of Adidas is set to top its estimates this year, with online sales growing by 40% to 600 million euros, according to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The sports company had initially expected to make half a billion euros in online sales this year.

The rise follows Adidas’ strategy to implement a true omni-channel approach and the launch of new projects. “ We have built a global e-commerce platform; as the future will be about online shopping through apps”, said Roland Auschel, Chief Sales Officer Global Sales, to the newspaper.

By 2020, the group’s e-commerce business is expected to reach 2 billion euros, which will account for approximately 10% of the consolidated revenue, projected to reach more than 20 billion euros.

This year, the Adidas Group expects currency-neutral sales to increase at a high-single-digit rate due to the strong momentum at both Adidas and Reebok, with online sales forecasted to increase by 4%.
