Aldi launches new Aldi Originals line
Budget supermarket giant Aldi and joined rival Lidl in launching its own branded fashion range. And it comes with the promise to “make wearers the envy of the middle aisle [where the retailer positions its bargain offers] and beyond”.
The limited-edition, sportswear-inspired Aldi Originals fashion line, which some on social media have likened to Adidas Originals, features hoodies, joggers, sneakers and a Christmas onesie, drawing its main inspiration from popular loungewear styles. Prices start at £2.49 for socks, £12.99 for joggers and matching hoodies and £14.99 for trainers, making it accessible to a wide audience.
It launched online on Sunday and will be sold at Aldi stores from 24 November.
It's expected to follow the success of previous ‘Aldimania’ ranges selling out in just hours and resulting in hugely inflated prices on resale websites. More than 47,000 people have so far reacted to the launch news, with over 9,000 on Twitter and 35,000 people on Facebook commenting on the launch.
A spokesperson from Aldi told Metro.co.uk: ‘With the festive season just around the corner, we wanted to give Aldi shoppers something to smile about – and also prove that you don’t have to break the bank paying high-fashion prices to look and feel the part.
“We are expecting this range to be extremely popular, and as with all Special buys once they’re gone, they’re gone – so we’d advise shoppers to be quick to avoid disappointment.”
