The New York Fashion Week is evolving. Between those who advocate the 'see now, buy now' approach, and traditional brands which continue to present their collections five months before they are due to reach the stores, Alexander Wang is offering an intermediate solution.

Wang’s Spring/Summer 2017 women's ready-to-wear collection will show in New York in September. On the occasion, the US designer will reveal a selection of clothes, handbags and shoes from his cruise collection to the public. As stated in a press release, these items will be available on the market in November, a few months ahead of the main collection.

It will be a sort of staggered 'see now, buy now', with products available for sale not the day after the show, but a couple of months later. Indeed, nothing will change in terms of production. The new strategy differs from the old one only in terms of communication.

In the past, the cruise collection's images were distributed to the media at its presentation in June. Starting from this season, they will be published in September, at the time of the main collection's show. The public will therefore have to wait for only two months between first discovering the cruise collection and the latter's arrival in the stores. As for the main collection's clothes, they will be available on the market in January, as before.

Alexander Wang's September show already promises to be remarkable. In addition to items from the cruise collection, it will also feature a selection from the men's collection, to be presented in June as well, and tee-shirts from the designer's second line, T by Alexander Wang. Masculine styles have been showing with feminine ones for two seasons already.
