Harding has been with the company for five years but will now leave House of Fraser at the end of May. The company hasn't yet named his replacement, but Alison Lancaster will be joining House of Fraser on an interim basis to lead the Customer Directorate until a permanent appointment is made.

She will join the company in May, ahead of Harding's departure, and "brings with her a deep understanding of the customer journey and customer proposition based on her experiences at Bravissimo, Bonmarche and McArthur Glen Group," the retailer said.

House of Fraser has made a number of recent appointments, including its Executive Director, Buying & Design, Maria Hollins, whom the company recruited from Asos.

A House of Fraser’s spokesperson said: “As we continue to grow House of Fraser in the UK and internationally, it is important to restructure our business so that it is fit for the future. Inevitably, this means staff leave along the way. However, our ability to attract such a high calibre of talent, as highlighted by our recent senior appointments, is a real testament to the strength of our business and future ambitions. The experience they bring to House of Fraser will be incredibly valuable to our ongoing development.”
