UK footwear supplier and concessions retailer Lloyd Shoe Company has become the first casualty linked to Arcadia Group’s failure.

The East London-based firm has called in administrator FRP Advisory to seek a buyer for the business, with 243 jobs on the line. Its website confirmed the administration but it has yet to comment further.

Lloyd Shoe, which operates footwear concessions within some Arcadia-owned stores, will continue to trade as normal during the process.

Initially a men’s footwear supplier, Lloyd widened its product offer to include women’s footwear five years ago. The business currently operates over 800 men’s and women’s footwear concessions across the UK, Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands and the US.

Arcadia fell into administration last week, putting 1,3000 jobs at risk within its own business, but the wider impact on its suppliers could jeopardise thousands more.
