For its 2012-2013 financial year, ended March 31, Japanese sports brand Asics has reported a 5% increase in turnover to 2 billion euros (260 billion yen). Operational profit, however, dipped by 4.9% following increased expenses linked with personnel, the group said in its annual report.
Overall the company saw its sales boosted by its running segment. In its domestic market, though baseball-related sales were in decline, sales of sporting goods linked with running contributed to a 1.7% increase in revenue to 710 million euros. International sales tell the same story, with an even higher increase of 7% to 1.2 billion euros, boosted particularly by sales of running gear in Europe and North America.
Asics continues to focus efforts on its running segment, recently sponsoring the Paris and Los Angeles marathons.
