Bejeweled treasures from the Al Thani collection on show in Paris

"From the Great Mughals to the Maharajas: Jewels from the Al Thani collection," showing until June 5 at the French capital's Grand Palais, explores the evolution of taste and technique in India's jeweled arts over five centuries.

The exhibition shimmers and sparkles with exceptional gemstones, jade, rock crystal and enamel, as well as Imperial jewelry and contemporary creations, showcased in a magical décor inspired by the refinery of Indian culture.

Over 270 spectacular treasures from the Al Thani collection -- the private collection of the Qatari royal family -- are on show at the Grand Palais in Paris, in an exhibition exploring the history of Indian jewelry from the era of the great Mughals to the present day. Visitors can catch sight of some exceptional jewels, all steeped in history, while also exploring the links between major European jewelers, such as Cartier, and India.

After New York and London, the the Al Thani collection has brought its exceptional craftsmanship, opulence, color, luxury and creativity to Paris.

"From the Great Mughals to the Maharajas: Jewels from the Al Thani collection" runs March 29 to June 5, 2017, at Le Grand Palais, Paris, France.
