UK men’s clothing brand Ben Sherman is hosting a special exhibition dedicated to its shirt heritage at Florence trade show Pitti Uomo this week.

The event, which celebrates Ben Sherman’s more than five decades of shirt-making, marks the label’s return to the menswear fair after a five-year break.

Instead of joining the London Men's Fashion Week schedule last weekend, the brand is presenting its latest AW19 collection at the event in Florence, which is running from Tuesday to Friday.

"For the first time in five years, we return to Pitti Uomo with a fantastic exhibition showcasing how the Ben Sherman shirt has remained relevant in menswear for 55 years. It's a very exciting time and a great opportunity to remind buyers of the brand's unique DNA and provenance,” commented Mark Williams, Ben Sherman creative director.

The Decades exhibition, hosted in the Magazinni Teatro at Pitti Uomo, showcases vintage pieces from the brand's archive, alongside key items from the AW19 collection. As well as button-down shirts, the latest range also includes flock printed t-shirts, heritage waffle knitwear, and classic waxed cotton fishtail parka.

"We are extremely happy that an iconic menswear brand Ben Sherman has decided to be back to Florence," says Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine. "Both the new AW2019 collection and the special exhibition celebrating its art of shirtmaking will be a must-see of the Pitti Uomo experience."
