The Bijorhca trade show has stood its ground, welcoming 12,168 visitors, 30% of them from outside France, at Paris' Porte de Versailles exhibition centre from 20th to 23rd January, though the fine and fashion jewellery trade show did not stage a recovery, its organisers underlining how the economic situation is still troubled.

Attendance was stable compared to the January 2016 edition, when the visitor figure was 12,500. However, there still was a strong decline compared to that of January 2014, when visitors were 14,000. The setback was notably due to the fall in foreign visitors after the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris.

The January 2017 edition featured 400 exhibitors, and 30% of the visitors came from outside France. Of the 90 different countries represented, the leaders were Belgium, Spain and Italy. Russia made it for the first time to the top 10 of the most represented countries. "This session was altogether satisfactory, but I was hoping for a rise in the number of visitors from January already, since we noticed an increase in advance registrations for the show," said Aude Leperre, the event's new director.

With the help of her team and of Creative Director Stella Cadente, Aude Leperre is keen to re-energise Bijorhca, brightening the show up with a new kind of boldness and congeniality. Major changes are heralded for the September 2017 edition, which will feature a new visual identity, an overhauled floor plan and the introduction of a 'top buyers' programme, aimed at providing the latter with more information and promoting networking. Bijorhca's next edition is scheduled from 8th to 11th September.
