French online fashion retailer Brandalley, which launched a UK site in 2008, told the British press that its turnover in the UK rose 60% in 2011 to 28.9 million pounds. Now, four years after its launch, Brandalley UK wants to focus on sales via smartphones and social media.

Last month, BrandAlley.co.uk launched its first mobile-optimised site in an aim to generate 20% of its turnover from sales via smartphones or tablet devices. This target seems to be achievable, given that the website recently reported a 43% increase in the number of active customers to 160,000. Its other ambition is to strengthen its social media operations. The online retailer’s Facebook shop generated 450,000 pounds in the fourth quarter of 2011, equivalent to 5% of its turnover.

The British website expects to see a 40% growth in sales this year. In France, Brandalley recently saw the departure of its general director Sven Lung, who was replaced by Antoine Leloup in January. The French site reported a 40% rise in sales in 2011 to 150 million euros.
