Seattle-based running shoes and apparel brand Brooks Running has announced the opening of a new 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Whitestown, Indiana, that should help the company cut emissions and ensure faster delivery times.

The facility, which will serve as the company’s North American distribution center, is expected to employ 130 people by 2023.

According to Brooks, the center’s Midwest location, coupled with energy efficiencies in the building’s design, will result in a reduction of around 50% in the emissions produced by distribution operations when compared to the company’s previous distribution center in Sumner, Washington.

The more central location will also mean that the company can provide three-day delivery for most orders made on its e-commerce site, the majority of which ship to addresses east of the North Dakota-Texas line.

“Opening our new distribution center is an exciting and crucial step on our journey to become the No. 1 choice for all who run,” said Brooks Running Company CEO Jim Weber in a release. “We don’t want anything to get in the way of a great run, and that includes excessive wait times for new gear. Our team has thoughtfully created a center that streamlines this part of our supply chain, benefitting our retail partners, runners and the environment.”

Brooks Running’s new Whitestown distribution center is now fully operational.
