Browns Conscious links with Hillary Taymour for SS20

Luxury London retailer Browns has collaborated with Hillary Taymour, the designer behind New York-based Collina Strada, for the second edition of its Conscious documentary series linked to the launch of its Conscious category.

The series launched last October at the same time as the Conscious category debuted at Browns, with a focus on Dutch designer Duran Lantink at his Amsterdam studio. The category as a whole features “an ever-growing offering of brands and products that have been created with the future of our planet in mind”.

The retailer said it’s “championing designers that are forward-thinking and investing in brands that fit with our conscious values and encouraging others to do the same”.

Collina Strada certainly fits that bill having been created with sustainability at its core. And Taymour has been extending this idea to all of her creative projects with her SS20 show having been set up as a farmer’s market, with all the fabrics sourced from deadstock materials and upcycled sweatshirts.

The second episode of Browns Conscious features behind-the-scenes footage from that SS20 show. And the company said there are more joint projects to come from the label and the retailer.

Ida Petersson, Browns’ Womenswear and Menswear Buying Director said: Hillary has helped push awareness for sustainability in fashion since Collina Strada’s inception – the brand is constantly innovating and trying to do better whilst maintaining a clear point of difference in design and direction. But above everything else, Hillary is also a woman that every time I meet her inspires me to be a better person and it felt important us to share the love we have for her and the brand by showcasing the great work they do through this Conscious series.”
