In a fashion and luxury world that’s becoming ever-more-heavily focused on sustainability, supply chains take on even more importance than they already had, so news of supply chain appointments are always interesting to read.

And Burberry has just announced that Jerome Le Bleis has been appointed its Chief Supply Chain Officer, although he won’t be joining until January.

He’s currently at Lacoste in Paris, where he’s Executive Vice-President, Group Operations, but he has a CV that takes in more than only luxury fashion. He has previously held senior positions at French retail giant Carrefour and foods group Nestlé and has also worked at Michelin and Hewlett Packard after starting his career at KPMG.

So what Burberry is getting is someone with the kind of luxury experience needed but also a broad view of modern industry.

Although Paris-based at present, in his new role, Le Bleis will lead Burberry’s supply chain team from London. He starts on January 6 and, reflecting the importance of the role he’s taking on, will report directly to the firm’s CEO Marco Gobbetti.

Gobbetti said of the appointment: “Jerome has excellent experience leading high-performing teams and shares our values making him a great fit culturally. I am looking forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen the Burberry brand and position the business for growth.”
