COS and the Agnes Martin Foundation partner for artist-inspired collection

COS this week unveiled a capsule collection inspired by artist Agnes Martin. The new capsule celebrates COS’ sponsorship of Martin’s major retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

The COS x Agnes Martin collection is comprised of 12 pieces for men and women that feature prints inspired by the American painter’s abstract expressionist and minimalist art. Martin, who passed away at age 92 in 2004, is known for her use of geometric lines and grids as well as her delicate color palette, both of which served as an inspiration for the COS design team for years.

The capsule collection features hand-drawn and hand-stitched checks and stripes on loose-fitting linen and canvas garments that are inspired by work wear that Martin wore. The COS design team developed each print for the collection inspired by Martin’s untitled prints from 1977, 1995 and 1996.

The COS x Agnes Martin collection will launch on October 7 at the Guggenheim Museum Store and select COS stores worldwide. A percentage of the proceeds from COS store will be donated to the Agnes Martin Foundation.

The Agnes Martin exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum will be on view from October 7, 2016 through January 11, 2017.
