COS finally opens in New York

The arrival of COS in the United States was not a speedy affair but did finally take place. Initially announced for spring 2014, the first opening was planned for New York. But, moved back more than six months, it was overtaken by Los Angeles.

The first American COS store thus opened on 30 October in Beverly Hills, at 357 North Beverly Drive. A good-sized store dedicated to men's, women's and children's lines and which thus opened before the New York flagship store.

The latter finally opened its doors on 5 December at 129 Spring Street, in the heart of Manhattan. Nearly 5,000 ft² over four storeys are dedicated to men's and women's collections. The building's origin from 1800 requiring a complete renovation explains the delay of the store's opening. However, the e-shop for the American market was ready on time and was thus launched as scheduled on 14 May 2014.

The mid-range retail chain with a characteristic minimal design has really picked up the pace of its openings this year. Since September alone it has opened some twenty new stores between Europe, Asia, the Middle East and now North America, growing ever closer to the one hundred stores around the globe mark.
