From February 26, as the Paris Fashion Week is in full swing, the walls of buildings in the French capital’s central areas are blooming with 4,000 posters advertising the launch of the perfume collection by Carine Roitfeld. Roitfeld, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue France, who will collaborate with the Karl Lagerfeld label this year, features stark naked on the posters, photographed by her daughter Julia Roitfeld.

“I came across this picture by chance, rummaging among old stuff. In the picture, which I adore, my daughter Julia managed to capture forever a moment in time, a memory of my long-ago daily life (...) It inspired a sweet sorrow which has stayed with me throughout the development of these fragrances, since they too spring from some of my memories,” said Roitfeld. The Carine Roitfeld fragrance line was initially slated to launch in 2016, when Roitfeld was very busy with other fashion projects, and will finally be available on May 6, on the Carine Roitfeld website and on Net-A-Porter.

To concoct the line’s seven mixed-gender fragrances, priced at €252 for a 90 ml bottle, Roitfeld did not resort to the licensed services of a specialist fragrance manufacturer, but worked alongside three fragrance designers. Her son Vladimir Roitfeld is supporting her in this business venture. The collection is called ‘7 Lovers’, and tells the tale of seven love stories in seven iconic cities. “These perfumes are a first step in a global strategy of expanding the brand landscape of Carine Roitfeld into other sectors,” said Roitfeld’s press office.
