Cyrille Vigneron knows Richemont well, having worked there from 1988 to 2013. He was the Managing Director of Cartier Japan, followed by President of Richemont Japan, and finally Managing Director of Cartier Europe.

According to the luxury group, it was Stanislas de Quercize's own decision to leave the brand that he has been head of since 2012. He will nevertheless remain the President of Richemont France.

Earlier in the week Reuters reported that according to its sources, the executive had been off from work for several weeks due to health problems.
