Cats Brothers creates Christmas tree for German Gymnasium

London-based fashion label Cats Brothers was founded in 2012 and named one of the 200 labels to watch in the 2015 edition of Vogue Talents by Vogue Italia.

Now the label has taken on the festive task of creating a range of bespoke Christmas decorations for the tree at new London restaurant German Gymnasium. Just opened in King's Cross, the restaurant is located in a house that was originally built in 1865 for the German Gymnastics Society, and has a Mittel-European inspired menu.

"The inspiration for the decorations came from the building's German origin. We were given a brief of 'German Christmas Market' and designed them around that. Then we discovered this quite strange German tradition of hanging a pickled gherkin from the Christmas tree, so that became our favourite decoration of the bunch, I think," says Cats Brothers designer Lindsay McKean.

Next up for Cats Brothers is the debut of the label's first menswear collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence. In the new year, Cats Brothers will also be stocked at Selfridges, and show at London Fashion Week.
