Coco de Mer and Playboy are joining forces in the New Year on an exclusive collection that plays to the strength of both brands.

As Coco de Mer continues to reinvent itself in its still-new, independent incarnation, and as Playboy reinvents itself under the leadership of its founder’s son Cooper Hefner, the lingerie collection is set to launch next January, in time for the Valentine’s Day gifting season.

Coco de Mer has made quirky collaborations something of a speciality in recent years and this deal, with inspiration taken from “the sensual glamour of vintage Playboy pin-ups with a playful twist,” will be one of its highest-profile colas yet. The pieces will be widely available in retail stores globally, as well as at its owns stores and e-shop.

As usual for the lingerie brand, the campaign images have been shot by photographer Rankin.

Coco de Mer said the collection “combines glamour and femininity with a touch of flirtation” and harks back to the time “when women were first empowered to feel sensual and embrace their sexuality.”

To make the most of the Playboy link, each range in the collection is “based on an iconic Playboy issue.”

They include Kiss Me, a scarlet red embroidery offer combined with soft red satin, “inspired by the red lips on the cover of Playboy in May 1979.” Asymmetric cutaways “shape the body in conceal-and-reveal designs” intended to “tempt, tease and empower.”

Meanwhile Catch Me takes its starting point as the Playboy Bunny herself with a removable faux fur pompom attached to each style.

The Tease Me line has a subtle silver sparkle with embroidery and velvety black satin, while Tempt Me features black allover lace with removable black strapping and gold hardware “to create a provocative collection with a bondage aesthetic.”

Retail prices will range from £35 for an eye mask to £120 for a babydoll.
