American beauty company Coty Inc. has appointed Fiona Hughes as chief marketing officer, Coty consumer beauty, and as a member of the executive committee, effective June 12, 2019.

In her new role, Hughes will report to Pierre Laubies, Coty's CEO and consumer beauty president.

Prior to joining the company, Hughes most recently served as chief marketing officer and as an executive committee member with Jacobs Douwe Egberts, a global coffee and tea company. She has also previously served in a variety of marketing leadership roles during a 12-year career with Mars Global Petcare.

“[Hughes] is an exceptional marketing leader with a deep well of experience in leading brand and portfolio transformation, including successfully shaping global brand vision, strategy and innovation maps," Laubies said in a press statement. "As improving the performance of consumer beauty is a top priority, I am confident that [Hughes] will be a strong addition to our executive committee."

Earlier this month, Coty reported quarterly revenue that fell short of analyst expectations. The company has faced supply chain problems since its acquisition of about 40 beauty brands from Procter & Gamble in 2016, and reported lower demand for its mass market cosmetic brands such as CoverGirl and Rimmel.
