Crocs preps for Easter with sugar-coated Peeps collaboration
Crocs, the Niwot, Colorado-based footwear brand known for its instantly recognizable plastic clogs, has teamed up with Peeps, the iconic Easter candy made by Just Born, for a colorful spring collaboration for adults and kids alike.
Coated with a brightly colored sugar-like texture meant to mimic the Peeps marshmallow candy, the collaborative clogs can be purchased in blue, pink or yellow for adults, with a kids’ version also available in yellow.
The shoes come with 3D Jibbitz charms shaped like Peeps Marshmallow Chicks, while 2D Jibbitz charms in the shape of chicks and bunnies can also be bought separately.
“This is the first time Crocs is partnering with a candy brand, and what better way to keep our fans on their toes than by pairing our iconic clog with an iconic Easter candy brand for a one-of-a-kind collaboration," commented Crocs chief marketing officer Terence Reilly in a release. "We're thrilled to be chillin' with our Peeps this season in a bright and colorful clog that's sure to be our sweetest creation yet.”
Conceived in 1953, when Just Born acquired the Rodda Candy Company and mechanized the production of its line of marshmallow chicks, Peeps have since become an emblematic Easter treat in North America. The brand’s product line has also been expanded to include different shapes, such as bunnies and hearts, as well as other holidays, like Halloween.
This isn’t the first food-themed collaboration from Crocs, which just last month launched a KFC clog, complete with a scented 3D chicken drumstick Jibbitz charm.
Indeed, the footwear company has gained something of a reputation over the last few years for unexpected creative partnerships, joining forces with everyone from luxury fashion house Balenciaga to Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore and rapper Post Malone.
The Peeps x Crocs collection is available to purchase now and can be found in Crocs retail stores across the U.S., as well as online on the Crocs and Peeps e-commerce websites.
