Often the sponsor of surprising collaborations, this season Japanese brand Uniqlo has brought together artist Daniel Arsham and the world-renowned video game Pokémon. The result is a collection of T-shirts in which the fictional monsters are presented as sculptures 1,000 years in the future. The models can be obtained online from Uniqlo.com.

Daniel Arsham's creative concept of "fictional archeology," which consists of imagining what popular contemporary objects will look like 1,000 years in the future is the focus of this new project in partnership with Uniqlo. Having endured another ten centuries, Pikachu, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff and Ash Ketchum are presented in the form of aged sculptures on a series of largely monochrome T-shirts.

"With many of my projects, I try to make work that's not just for art people, and I think Uniqlo has a similar egalitarian culture. The reason I feature iconic characters in my work is that they are very recognizable, and, on the surface, they make it easy to enter my work. Pokémon has been a monumental presence ever since I was a child and I'm excited about the opportunity to present my work to a much wider audience," explains the American artist.

Inspired by original works, the monochrome motifs imagined by Daniel Arsham are presented on seven T-shirts for men, women and children. They are all available from the Japanese brand's online store. Prices start at US$14.90 (for a child's T-shirt).
