Greenberg joined L'Oréal 28 years ago where he held various positions in the group's markets, divisions, and brands. He was previously the company’s president of the North American professional products division, which includes brands such as Kerastase and Redken. Greenberg also served as President of Maybelline, Garnier and Essie at L'Oréal USA's consumer products division for eight years, and was marketing director of the L'Oréal Paris brand for six years. He was additionally involved in the identification, integration and global expansion of U.S. brand acquisitions, including Pulp Riot, NYX Professional Makeup, and Essie. Greenberg spent four years as head of L'Oréal Mexico's consumer products division.

"David [Greenberg] is one of the architects of L'Oréal's rise to become the market leader in the U.S., and he still leads with the same entrepreneurial, innovative, and competitive mindset. I am very proud to name the first American to head the North America Zone and to join our group’s executive committee. North America Zone is one of our biggest engines of growth, and David is the right person to take our team and business to new heights," said Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal, in a statement.

In 2021 L'Oréal achieved sales of €32.28 billion, up 15.3% compared to 2020.
