Dooney & Bourke to launch Tmall Global store

Connecticut-based leather goods brand Dooney & Bourke has announced the opening of its Alibaba Group-owned Tmall Global online store where it will offer a full assortment of handbags and accessories to Chinese customers.

Dooney & Bourke's Tmall Global flagship shop will offer Chinese customers leather goods including handbags, wristlets, wallets and phone cases. 

Tmall will greatly expand Dooney & Bourke's presence in China. Tmall currently has 500 million active users and 15,000 brands listed, hailing from over 60 countries.

Liz Kane, Director of Advertising and P.R. at Dooney & Bourke rightly called the move to open a Tmall Global flagship store "a major milestone in our company's 42 year history." 

Founded in Norwalk, CT in 1975, the brand is known for leather craftsmanship and has 1,000 retail stores in the US as well as 60 international shops. Modern celebrities and fashion figures including Lady Gaga, Freida Pinto and Zooey Deschanel are fans of the brand which continues to keep itself relevant while retaining an American heritage image.

The Tmall Global Dooney & Bourke site is not yet live. Instead, the brand is still relying on its existing Hong Kong site to reach customers.
