Mason succeeds David Suddens, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Mason was most recently the non-executive Chairman of New Look, and is also the current Chairman of Cath Kidston and Mayborn Group.

Steve Murray, Chief Executive, commented: “David joined Dr. Martens as Chief Executive Officer in August 2002 at a time when the Company was severely financially challenged and needed to make many radical changes to it s operating model in order to survive. Over the next 12 years David was the driving force behind the turnaround of the business leading to its stabilisation, growth and eventual sale to the Permira funds in 2014.“

Paul Mason, incoming Chairman, said: “I am thrilled to be joining one of the UK’s most iconic brands during what is an exciting new phase for the business. I look forward to working closely with Steve and his team to help drive further growth both in the UK and internationally.”
