Dsquared2 and Manchester City to launch capsule collection

Luxury label Dsquared2 is releasing a capsule collection with top-flight football club Manchester City that will officially launch on 11 May.

It celebrates the brand’s longstanding relationship with the football team that could once again top the English Premier league this year and includes an exclusive collection of accessories and ready-to-wear.

The brand has had a partnership with the club for the last seven years and has been behind the pre-match uniforms for the Manchester City players and their Manager Pep Guardiola.

Pieces in the new capsule prominently carry the team’s name and crest paired with the Dsquared2 logo and include Dsquared2 signatures, such as denim, outerwear, baseball caps and sneakers.

The launch illustrates how such logo-heavy fan-focused merchandise has evolved over the years. Once, such a collection would have been unlikely from luxury label. But the modern football and designer fashion fan wants to proclaim their allegiances very loudly and is prepared to pay a premium price to do so.

There are two different logo designs. Capitalised, the words ‘Dsquared2 for Manchester City Limited Edit’ are printed in white on the back of a black tailored jacket with a split vent, the front of a blue denim shirt and jeans, on a black crewneck knit and on a baseball cap and the tongue of black lace-up boots.

And detailed with a ship and diagonal stripes, the Manchester City circular crest is printed in white on the reverse of a black bomber jacket, a back pocket of black straight-fit denim jeans, on the front of a black jumper knit and on a beanie, baseball cap and backpack. Low-top black leather sneakers are printed with white Manchester City on the reverse.

A unique hangtag and internal label were created for the collection as well, also featuring the capitalised words ‘Dsquared2 for Manchester City Limited Edit’. 

The collection will be available in selected stores from later this month.
