Even in the middle of a pandemic-linked downturn there have been a number of UK store openings in the jewellery sector recently and London landlord The Mercers’ Company has just announced another. It said independent jeweller, e&e Jewellery, has signed for a new boutique on Neal Street, which is set to open late next month.

The 500 sq ft space will be in the heart of Covent Garden, a shopping district known for its mix of big-name brands and indies.

The new store is one of five for the brand in London and forms part of its European expansion plans including Spain, Italy, France and The Netherlands. It underscores the fact that there’s still a level of confidence in the future of central London retail, despite footfall being at a historically low level at present.

Established in 2009, e&e Jewellery is designed in London and hand-made in Istanbul. It’s known for its intricate and statement pieces and the mix changes seasonally.

Owner Emre Omerbeyoglu said the company had been looking for another location after seeing “a significant increase in sales and demand over the past few months. Neal Street provides the ideal environment and brand fit to showcase our ever-changing collections and for our customers”.
