Ebay announced on Monday the appointment of Pete Thompson as senior vice president and chief product officer, and Mazen Rawashdehas as senior vice president and chief technology officer.
Thompson joins Ebay from Amazon, where he served as vice president of Alexa Voice Service. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of TiVo, as well as holding executive roles at a variety of companies such as Microsoft, T-Mobile, Ericsson, and Sonos.
In his new role, Thompson will play a key role in transforming the company’s shopping experience, while helping Ebay sellers succeed, according to a press release from the San Jose, California-based company.
Likewise, Rawashdeh, an Ebay veteran, has been leading platform engineering for the company since 2016. As chief technology officer, he will continue with his current responsibility, as well as lead the company's infrastructure and platform architecture, and much more.
Rawashdeh worked for Ebay from 2003 to 2011, in several technology leadership roles, before departing to serve as vice president, infrastructure operation engineering at Twitter.
Both will be members of Ebay's executive leadership team, and will report to president and CEO Devin Wenig. Thompson starts July 29 and, like Rawashdeh, will be based in San Jose, California at Ebay's headquarters.
On Monday, Ebay also announced the arrival of two additional executives: Scott Gaffney, as VP, search engineering, and Steve Metz as VP, product analytics.
