American cosmetics group Elizabeth Arden has appointed George Cleary as President of Global Fragrances. The appointment will be effective from 14th March. George Cleary has worked in the beauty industry for some twenty years, at Johnson&Johnson and also at Coty, where he notably acted as President of the Americas region. Most recently he was CEO of Iluminage, a company specialised in high-tech beauty devices.

"I expect George to make a big impact on our global fragrance business," said E. Scott Beattie, Elizabeth Arden's President and CEO.

Indeed, in the last few months, the American group's fragrance business was largely dragged down by the performance of celebrity perfumes, such as Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj. The group has also started, more than a year ago, a restructuring of its brand portfolio.
