Little Black Dress, the online fashion business fronted by Alesha Dixon, has named a new fashion director with Debbi Ball joining after a career spent at some of the biggest names in UK mass-market fashion retail.

She had been buying director at fast-growing e-tailer Boohoo and has also worked for Asos, Arcadia’s Topshop and Shop Direct, the company behind the hugely successful Very brand.

At Manchester-based premium occasionwear and bridal specialist LBD, her new role will see her joining the board and overseeing the next phase of the firm’s product development.

The company has big ambitions to become a top e-tailer of premium dresses and is planning a higher-end own-brand so Ball certainly has a busy time ahead of her.

Dixon, who is also on the board after acquiring a stake in the firm in 2016, said that the appointment is “really exciting” as the company works on its new offer this year.

Meanwhile CEO Mark Evans added that the five-year-old company has lots of investment planned for 2019 and “the experiences [Ball] has gained from working in fast-moving and fast-growing e-commerce businesses” will be “invaluable”.

“Having been involved in the formative days of Asos and the recent meteoric success of Boohoo, Debbi will bring leadership, energy, process and a great sense of style to Little Black Dress,” he added.
